Check the Health Connect availability

Health Connect is exclusive to Android and Google Play. Users can access Health Connect in two ways:

  • An open beta app on the Google Play store.
  • As an Android system app on certain Pixel devices (pushed out as part of the QPR2 update).

Open Beta

The Health Connect beta app was launched on the Google Play store on November 11, 2022.

Once a third-party developer has been granted access to the Health Connect API, apps are able to read, write and share approved data types from the user's on-device store.

Preloaded on Pixel Devices

On March 6, 2023, Health Connect was packaged with the Android Quarterly Platform Release QPR2 for all Pixel devices, and became available as an Android system app in the following locales:

  • Chinese (Taiwan)
  • Danish (Denmark)
  • English (Canada, Denmark, France, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore)
  • French (France)
  • French (Canada)
  • Germany (Germany)
  • Hindi (India)
  • Japanese (Japan)

Once a user installs an Android system update (including Health Connect) as a system app, they can only disable it. They can't uninstall it.

Future Versions

Health Connect will become part of Android 14 as an Android system app.

This version of Health Connect will retain 100% feature parity with its open beta predecessor. Prior to the launch of Android 14, detailed guidance will be made available to facilitate a smooth transition from the APK to a framework model.
